Where did you go to school (high school and college)?

I graduated from Nevada High School and then Cottey College where I earned my Associates in Science. Currently, I am enrolled at Western Governors University working towards my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. 

What have you learned about your position?

I have learned that there are soooo many things that school does NOT prepare you for. However, having a good sense of humor and a fair amount of patience is helpful. 

Was the education that you received hard and was it worth it?

My education has definitely been challenging. But it is so important to never stop learning and trying to improve yourself. Furthering your education is always worth it and I wouldn't change a thing about the road I've chosen. 

Do you enjoy your position at Bronaugh R-VII?

I absolutely LOVE both of my positions here at Bronaugh! As the Nurse (health clerk) I've been given the chance to get to know virtually all of the kids in the school and build a relationship with them. As the Business/Computer teacher, I have gotten the opportunity to become even more involved with the Jr. High and High School students. Having been given the opportunity to become part of the Wildcat family has been an awesome experience and one that I will always cherish.

STATE SOLOS!

Annabelle and Emma Morris performed in Columbia (4-26-19) performing their solos for the state level judges so competition is immense. The two girls ended up getting silver (Annabelle), and bronze (Emma). GOOD JOB!!

Hang In There! - Staying Focused

Miss Dickey was kind enough to share some tips with us about staying on task:

1) Make a list!  I ALWAYS have a list of what I am working on for the day/week/month/year.  It really gives you perspective to see all your tasks written down on paper.  You can take time to prioritize tasks and I think it's fun to check things off as DONE!

2) Listen to music or a podcast (OR DON'T!).  Find out what works for you!  Do you work better with some background noise? Make sure you have something to listen to.  If you find music or podcasts distract you, then make sure you are in a quiet space.

3) Set a timer!  Sometimes I will set a timer for 15-20 minutes and tell myself, "I am going to work on this task for the next xx minutes, uninterrupted!"  If you have short chunks of time, you might be surprised by how much you can actually get done.
Sometimes it is overwhelming to just THINK about all you have due and coming up.  Sometimes I get so frustrated I just choose to do nothing since I don't know where to start.  When I take the time to make lists and prioritize, my to-do list seems much more manageable.  Find a place to start, and get going!
